Whilst his style does differ from project to project you can be certain that each series will have a sense of narrative that also has some unreality. Jon Eland previously went by the pseudonym of ‘strawbleu’ – which covered his photographic practice as well as publishing several zines and photobooks under the same name.
Alongside his own photographic projects Jon helped develop the Leeds group on the Flickr.com photosharing site and then founded and ran the Exposure Leeds photographic group for seven years. During this time he brought the Photocamp unconference concept to Europe – with five events delivered in Leeds, Bradford and Edinburgh – working with partners including Leeds Beckett University, Yahoo!/Flickr, The National Science and Media Museum, Impressions Gallery and The University of Edinburgh.
Supported by Leeds City Council he developed greater creative ties between Leeds and its partner city in the states, Louisville.
