This Timebank Supported Project for Zoe Parker and Lucy Meredith’s Mermaid Group- Yorkshire Life Aquatic. It was filmed by Maria Spadafora, edited by Annabeth Robinson, with voiceover by Ivor Tymchak for member Zoe Parker. We also used the sound booth at Leeds College of Art to record the sound, and Annabeth also edited the sound. Without the Timebank and these members brilliant skills, this video would not have been realised.
Zoe says:
“The time bank has supported many of my projects in a whole host of ways. Some of this has lead to transactions paid with money also for these time bank members. So its a great way to meet new collaborators.
Initially i got help planning my idea and raising the cash finance to make the project happen. I then requested transactions so that members made bunting signs, managed volunteers and support staff at Bramley Baths, invigilated at events, made shells out of plastic bottles and made a Mermaid Artist Book.
In 2014, I had a series of smaller projects where exchanges for my projects included photographing at Beacons Festival, and an impromptu photo shoot of ‘Mermaids’ on the fake grass on Leeds Dock. Both photographers managed to take some amazing photographs which we have used to publicise the company and a number of events. I had very performance we did filmed and/or photographed, which included bringing in a second camera on two events. This meant we had high quality documentation of all the major events and festivals we took part in, in Summer 2014. Out of this, we have had a brilliant promo Mermaids made.
It’s great for those last minute things you hadn’t budgeted for in a funded project and so that you can explore any artistic idea, even if it’s one you can’t get funding for. It means you can potentially do that project now and also often new collaborations, knowledge and skills emerge. Leeds Creative Time Bank is wealth of creative talent.”
