Member Morticia took time out to have a (virtual) cuppa with Lynette Willoughby about the reasons she and other people use Leeds Creative Timebank and the changes in usage of the Timebank due to the impact of Covid 19.
Lynette makes artists books and site responsive installations in collaboration with other artists. She has been a member of Leeds Creative Timebank since 2013. In addition to being a member she oversees operations – covering treasurer, administrator and timebroker roles.
The Timebank has remained active during lockdown and continues to be so. Prior to lockdown most of the requests to the Timebank were for help with invigilation, but now the bulk of them are for proof-reading, website building and renovation, review of project proposals and grant applications, social media guidance and wellbeing. Lynette was keen to point out that it isn’t just requests for help that the Timebank deals with but offers of help from those with skills too.
Lynette stressed the Timebank isn’t just there to exchange time and skills but to foster a sense of community and networking amongst creatives and that one of the most important and exciting aspects of the Timebank, the way it gets conversations going across practices and skillsets as it’s those conversations which help spark new ideas, new ways of working and new collaborations. The last time she used the Timebank was to get advice from professional photographers to help her choose a new camera and she’ll be using it again soon to get some help with her website.
Lynette is currently busy dealing with the steady stream of interest in the
Timebank, hosting introductions for new members or anyone needing a refresher!) to its workings and ethics via Zoom at mutually arranged times so if you want to find out more then drop your questions via the contact form or place a request.
